Jim Miller

Change Agent - at large - and a marathon a month runner...

Since graduating from the Hotel School at the University of New Hampshire, Jim has spent his entire career focused on advancing the state of the art in the hospitality industry. Whether stimulating room sales or presenting in the Board Room, Jim has always provided a fresh perspective to the dynamics of Sales, Marketing, Management, Training and Empowerment.

Key to his creative combination of experience and contribution has been his work with a broad spectrum of hotel operations - from working with all 400 members of the New England Innkeepers Association, to leading the sales effort at the Parker House in Boston, moving on to create 5 executive positions in the corporate office of Omni Hotels, becoming a partner for the original Coastal Hotel Group managing Cheeca Lodge, the Hotel Jerome, The Mayfair House, Highlands Inn and Stein Eriksen Lodge, to serving on the Board for Small Luxury Hotels of the World...and 'THEN starting his consultancy career...where the real emphasis on breadth and depth of making change starts to happen.

Since 1992 Jim has operated as a seamless 'partner' with the likes of Starwood Hotels - designing training and operations manuals, as well as perfecting a TeamBuilding program, helped increase revenues through a one of a kind Reservations training program used with Select Registry and more recently has helped define a new performance based culture for the sales effort of the U.S. Virgin Islands Commission of Tourism.

Recent examples of elevating his approach to true partnership - the concept of contributing not just the ideas, but being a hands-on part of the execution, Jim as served as the Interim CEO for the DMC Network - while taking this 30 year old consortium from being a non profit to a For-profit entity and even now serves as the President of Prestige Consulting Services for Prestige Resorts, bringing his one of a kind consultancy to over 2,100 hotels affiliated with Prestige.

A sought out facilitator and key note speaker for regional, annual and national conferences, Jim loves nothing more than to be comfortably challenging in his delivery and intent to elevate everyone at their own personal and professional game.

To truly understand the combination of discipline and commitment that Jim brings to every assignment, you need to understand his quest to be only one of less than 575 people in the world to run a marathon in every state - with the finish line set for Hawaii in 12/09...rest assured, you'll find a marathon training theme in almost all of his work and you'll recognize him as the guy almost always wearing one of his 54 (so far) marathon finisher tees....proudly.
